Norbrook Youth Club puts their grant award to good use!

In support of its continued work to provide a safe and healthy meeting environment for young people in Wythenshawe, Norbrook Youth Club has recently upgraded the club’s onsite kitchen facilities, with a focus on healthy cooking education, after receiving the Equilibrium Foundation Grant Award last year.

Beyond providing a safe and friendly environment for youth weekly activity sessions, the board at Norbrook continually seek to encourage and sustain healthy living among youth in the area.

This has been partially achieved through upgrading the club exterior grounds with play equipment that broadened the choice of available outdoor activities, and now it is complemented by a fully fitted modern kitchen and appliances, allowing safer and easier access to healthy cooking and cleaning.

In addition, disability access will be significantly improved to align with more recent innovation and learning.

“We have achieved so much in the last few years at Norbrook with the help of caring sponsors just like The Equilibrium Foundation, yet maintaining and modernising a youth club always presents us with a new challenge.

“Upgrading the kitchen was at the top of our list, with such a big impact to the children and staff using the premises, as well as the educational role it plays towards building healthier eating habits. Being awarded the Equilibrium Foundation Grant Award could not have come at a better time; it will make a huge difference to all.”

Norbrook Youth Club is a long running, multi-purpose youth facility and community centre in Northern Moor, Wythenshawe. The club has been established in the community for over 60 years, since 1958 and offers free, diverse, weekly activity sessions for youth from the age of 6 to 18, to enjoy in a safe and friendly environment.
