Hopefully you’ve had a great year so far and are looking forward to the rest of 2019 (gloves and woolly jumpers at the ready!).

    Happy new year!

At Equilibrium, we’re already celebrating the end of the year – our financial year. Once again, it’s been a fantastic 12 months for the company and team, and we’re all extremely proud of our achievements.

Firstly (and most importantly), we have continued to provide a first-class service to our clients. We undertook an independent third-party survey of clients and employees as part of the CX awards, and we were extremely pleased to receive the mark of excellence again.

Clients scored us an average of 9.12 out of 10 based on how easy we are to deal with, how satisfied with the service they are and how much they trust us.

We have also retained our 99% client retention rate and five-star rating on Working Feedback.

    The EQ team

It’s also been a fantastic year for the team which saw the launch of our recruitment website back in April. The website showcases what a fantastic place to work Equilibrium is and will allow us to attract and retain the best individuals in the industry who will, in turn, provide the best service possible to our clients.

On that note, the Sunday Times named us as one of the Top 100 Best Small Companies to Work For yet again, marking our third consecutive year in the top 10. We also received their prize for innovation in engagement for the second year in a row. Fingers crossed for the number one spot next year (not that we need luck!).

You may be aware that last year we expanded our graduate scheme to become the Equilibrium Diploma Academy, offering to train individuals with the right personality and attitude to become Diploma qualified paraplanners within two years.

Taking inspiration from the Diploma Academy, we have now created the EQ Academies, which are open to all staff to develop their professional skills, ensuring that every member of staff has the opportunity to reach their full potential.

    Giving back

It’s also been a record-breaking year for the Equilibrium Foundation, surpassing its target of raising £250,000 for charities by 2020. Over £300,000 has already been donated to a wide variety of incredible charities who are making an amazing difference to the people in our community.

But we aren’t stopping there. Earlier in the year, we announced a new target to reach £1 million raised for charity by August 2028, and we had every confidence that we’d meet it. So much confidence in fact, that we decided it was too easy. Way too easy.

That’s why we’ve raised our August 2028 target to £2.5 million to reflect the growth of our company and our commitment to making people’s lives better.

Our efforts to make a positive difference to the community have continued this year across various projects. Our financial literacy workbook, Libby’s Big Aeroplane Adventure reached another 24 schools across England and Wales, meaning that the booklet has now benefitted over 2,500 children.

One teacher’s feedback on the project was: “I found it very beneficial and it has really got me thinking about how to expand the children’s understanding of finance.”

We also introduced a Give As You Earn scheme and we were delighted to see a 48% uptake from employees, meaning that we that we are on track to achieve the Diamond Payroll Giving Quality Mark in 2020!

It was especially pleasing to have our efforts in the community recognised by the Greater Manchester Business Awards who presented us with their 2019 Corporate Social Responsibility Excellence Award.

    Onwards and upwards

In true EQ style, we don’t plan on slowing down next year.

You may be aware that we have committed to a lease on a new building and are aiming to move in March 2020. The new office will provide a superior client experience, as well as housing our ever-expanding team.

We have plenty planned for next year, and we look forward to welcoming the new challenges and experiences that 2019/20 has in store.
