Last week we welcomed Sarah Carter, 18, into the Equilibrium offices to get a taste for what it is like to work for a wealth management company. Sarah has just completed her A-levels at Tytherington sixth form, where she gained an outstanding A* in Finance and wanted to gain some hands on experience to coincide with her amazing results.

Unsure of her next step, Sarah applied for University to complete an ‘International Business’ course, as well as various finance and business apprenticeships. Once she received her results she was offered both a place at University and an apprenticeship with Aviva. Wanting to gain experience and qualifications at the same time, she chose to complete the apprenticeship which she starts this week.

Sarah has had an interest in personal finance since starting her A-levels so before embarking on her next big step with Aviva; she wanted to gain a little bit of experience in the industry. Having seen Alex’s blog a few weeks ago she decided to contact us knowing that we welcomed those wanting to gain work experience.

We try to ensure that those who come in to carryout work experience do in fact get the whole experience. We placed Sarah with selected staff within the company to let her get a taste for all the different departments – a Client Manager, Marketing Executive, Investment Analyst and a Financial Adviser. Sarah enjoyed all departments in which she worked and said “Equilibrium has given me the chance to look into how wealth management companies work. I now know more about how this company operates and the work they do. I feel I have gained a lot from this experience and will definitely use what I have learnt in the future.”

Here at Equilibrium we have a very strong team, which allows for the delivery of the outstanding service to clients. This obviously shows as Sarah said “At Equilibrium it’s interesting to see that even though everyone works individually they also work brilliantly as a team. Also communication is a key skill used at Equilibrium between all employees. This is something I have learnt is a very important factor in the business.”

We wish Sarah good luck for the future and all the best in her apprenticeship at Aviva.
