Wilmslow community group Snow Angels has been awarded a £500 grant by Equilibrium.
Set up to support elderly people from Cheshire, the group provides a network of volunteers, advice and social activities to help guard older people against social isolation. The grant will fund a wider range of activities for Colshaw Farm in Wilmslow, one of the groups supported by Snow Angels, including arts and crafts, seated fitness classes and well-being sessions.
It will also be used to fund further support training for volunteers from Wilmslow High School who work with Snow Angels every year, as well as transport big enough to accommodate all group members for day trips.
Speaking about the grant, Lindsay Martin, Project Officer at Snow Angels said:
Receiving this grant will help us to focus on the improvement of health and well-being and encourage social interaction with older, more vulnerable people within our community. We are extremely grateful to Equilibrium for providing us with this opportunity.
Snow Angels is the first group to receive a grant since we launched our Wilmslow Community Support Scheme launched for 2016. The scheme enables local charities and organisations to apply for grants to further support the work they are doing in the Wilmslow area.
Applications for the fourth quarter of 2016 will open on Monday 19 September. To apply please click here.
