Equilibrium received such a high number of applications to its Chester & District Community Support Scheme in the first quarter of 2017 that it decided to award its grant to a selection of charities. The Joshua Tree charity based in Northwich was one of three charities chosen.
The charity supports more than 80 families affected by childhood cancer across Cheshire and the North West, and supports not only the child undergoing treatment but their siblings, parents, grandparents and teachers.
Some of the areas that the charity offers support in are:
- Emotional support, including 1-2-1 support, play therapy and support groups or someone to talk to
- Practical support and signposting to sources of information, assistance and advice
- Family activities and events
- Supporting the child and their family in achieving the best academic, social and emotional outcomes
The £300 Equilibrium grant will be used to run an art and drama course for children and their families provided by Much Ado Workshops – www.muchadoworkshops.co.uk. These workshops help provide everyone with a much needed boost at one of the hardest and most challenging times in their lives.
