Harry Topping

I joined the team in 2024, having previously spent just over five years at Investec Wealth & Investment. The appeal for me was the opportunity to work as part of a much smaller investment team whose values aligned with my own, offering greater accountability and the chance to make a more meaningful impact on people’s lives.

I believe the people you work with shape your experience, wherever you are. I feel very lucky that at Equilibrium, I’ve found a business full of kind and talented people, in an environment where egos are left at the door and everyone is pulling in the same direction towards a common goal.

It’s easy to say that clients are at the heart of any business, but it’s much more difficult to live that and put it into practice every day. I think it’s something we really strive for here at Equilibrium. That simple mission is what sets this business apart.

In this industry, particularly when it comes to investing, the job is never done. Looking back, there are always things you could have done better, and those lessons help shape how you approach the next challenge. You can never pat yourself on the back too much; it’s important to stay humble about what might come next. As someone with a background in statistics who loves thinking about how we can better understand the world around us, it’s this constant pursuit of incremental improvement to achieve better outcomes that drives me.

Outside of work, I build my time around sport and music. More recently, I’ve started taking part in endurance events, completing an Ironman in 2024 and the London Marathon in 2023. As for music, my parents are from Liverpool and Wigan, which gave the world the Beatles and Northern Soul, so I was hooked from a young age.
